Buddy Box in Action
The club has available several aircraft (including In-door models) for members’ training purposes and all training is given via ‘buddy’ transmitter systems. Training can also be given using member’s own models at the owner’s risk.
Note: Models using ‘Safe’ technology may be used for training without a ‘buddy’ system subject to the approval of a club’s Instructor.
It is to be noted that where Junior members are concerned even though all Instructors are members of the PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) scheme it is requested that parents/guardians accompany their children during training sessions wherever possible.
The Club holds regular flying sessions at Dornoch Airstrip on Saturdays (subject to weather) at 10:00 throughout the year. (Mid-week sessions are also arranged subject to weather conditions).
During the winter Club nights are held every 1st and 3rd Monday in the month from 6pm to 8pm at Dornoch’s West Church Hall, and in the summer (if conditions are favourable) members will meet at the Airstrip instead. These club meetings also include a program of model aircraft building using club facilities and discussions on a range of modelling topics. For further information please refer to ‘Diary Dates’ page or speak with a Committee Member.
Indoor flying winter sessions start early in October taking place in Dornoch’s West Church Hall on the 1st and 3rd Monday evenings between 6pm and 8pm. During these sessions members can fly a range of models from club owned Night Vapor trainers to 3D indoor models, we also have a keen group of helicopter and quadcopter pilots who fly in the hall as well. Visitors will be made most welcome and those wishing to fly a nominal charge of £3 is made which will be refunded should Membership be taken out in the same year.
